2013-08-15 - we are announcing the faa's receipt of reports of cracking in the aft frame and aft frame support structure of the forward galley door on various boeing model 737-100, -200, -200c, -300, -400, and -500 series airplanes. with a pressurized aircraft, decompression of the galley compartment can occur rapidly after loss of the forward galley door, resulting in rapid cabin decompression and possible loss of the door.

2018-04-11 - the faa is issuing this airworthiness directive (ad) to prevent damage to the left wing and right wing structure of the boeing company model 737-100, -200, -200c, -300, -400, and -500 series airplanes. this ad also includes minor change to the maintenance requirements, and for some airplanes, changes in the alternative action. the objective of this ad is to correct an unsafe condition on these products.


2018-04-11 - this ad requires the repetitive inspections of the left wing and right wing structure for cracking. it also requires a new alternative action (refer to paragraph (h)(2)(i) of the latter portion of the ad). this ad results from a report that several anomalies were observed on a model 737-600 series airplane, which prompted the operator to inspect the airplane for damaged structure, including fatigue cracking. this ad is prompted by reports that require repetitive inspections for cracking of the left wing and right wing structure. this ad results from the detection of a cracked front wing spar that was previously unreported. this ad also results from a report that cracked front spar forward of the wing was repaired by fastener replacement. boeing has reported a cracked spar that requires repetitive inspections for cracking of the left wing and right wing structure. because the cracked spar was previously unreported, this ad does not address the cause of that cracked spar or the repair of that cracked spar. to address that cracked spar, boeing proposes the following changes: (1) replace the strained rivet holes, (2) replace the rivet that held the stringer, the spar cap and the spar chord together, and (3) replace the spar chord, the stringer and the spar cap.
